An Artist Who Writes
On Feb. 21st I had the pleasure of watching “And Still I Rise,” a phenomenal new documentary about the life of Maya Angelou. Years ago I read & loved I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings & some of her poetry- but until I watched this program, I truly didn’t understand her greatness. This poem was inspired from this experience.

When I first heard Maya Angelou speak I was drawn to the power and compelling persuasiveness that vibrated from deep within her. Even though I was taken with her, from the beginning, I didn’t realize the depth and breadth of her life experience until I saw the documentary. What a marvelous woman.
