Liebster Award

liebster

One of my fellow bloggers & blogging friends, Louise of Louise In-Btween nominated me for this award a couple of weeks back.  It is sweet to recognized and know that someone out there finds value in my words and images.  I started a writing practice in late 2016 and shortly after this blog in 2017 with few expectations.  All I knew is I wanted to express myself in words and images.  WordPress became the perfect venue for that. What I find!  Blogging is like putting your handprint on the universe.  I write for no reward other than my own satisfaction.

I’ve noticed blogging awards here and there and have been wary of them.  After researching them a bit, I decided to go with the Liebster as is an award given by a blogger to bloggers with fewer than 200 followers, with an aim to help others discover and spot new bloggers.

The rules are simple. Pay it forward by writing a post that:

  • Acknowledges the blog that nominated you.
  • Answer the 11 questions your nominator asked.
  • Nominate 11 other bloggers. (sorry, I don’t have 11)
  • Ask them 11 questions.
  • Let them know you have nominated them.

Below I have answered the questions that Louise has asked of me…

If you could be any animal, what would you be and why?

A river otter!  I love water and play.  They look like they are having so much fun swimming and sliding down river banks

Tell me about an experience or person who shaped your life for the better.

My father was a great person.  There was was one instance, in particular, that was significant to me.  I was in my 20’s and called him up upset from Alaska, distraught with a job I had sought that was making me miserable.  He said, “Well, you can always change your mind- why don’t you just quit?”  I did and it opened up a world of possibilities so much better.  Since then, I have given myself permission to “change my mind” many times when decisions did not serve me well.

What is your favorite season and why?

Spring is wonderful in the Willamette Valley of Oregon.  Everything is in bloom and verdant.  The river and waterfalls are full and rushing.  The temperatures are perfect.  it’s a great time to be outside

How did you choose the name of your blog?

At this age, I am tired of hiding behind pseudonyms.  The blog title had to have my full name in it.  Here I am world- for better or for worse.  Also, as a person with many interests, I wanted a name that would not put confines on my content.

What is your favorite blog post that you have written (link to it please)?

This would probably be near the beginning of my blog “You Just Start” & also Crow Vision

Name one thing that you want to do or accomplish in 2018.

I would like to create a body of work around my printmaking / mixed media art.

If you could have a superpower, what would it be?

What a joy it would be to fly and ride on the thermals like a bird of prey

What has been a rewarding moment for you as a blogger?

My first “Like” and my first “Follow” on my first post.  what a surprise!

Recommend a movie that you like.

HAROLD & MAUDE 1971- a cult favorite of my generation

What one piece of advice would you give a teenager today?

Forget what other’s think.  Forge your own path & be true to your unique vision.

I’m a relatively new blogger.  There are only a few blogs I follow with around 200 readers and then some of these I’m not sure what the readership is.  Check them out!

I nominate the following fine bloggers.  Check them out!

Sergiol

Windrush

Claudia Mcgill and Her Art World

Revisionist Retirement

Bend branches

donegallizdoyle

My question to my nominees are…..

  1. What inspired you to start your blog?
  2. How do you get ideas for your posts?
  3. What has been your greatest reward of blogging?
  4. If you could sit down with 3 people to share conversation over a meal, who would they be?
  5. What is your favorite blog?
  6. Who is your favorite poet and/or author?
  7. If you could be any person for a day, who would that be? (living or non-living)
  8. What is a book you couldn’t put down?
  9. what are some of your favorite pastimes outside of blogging?
  10. A favorite daily ritual?
  11. Advice to new or aspiring bloggers?

Thanks, Louise, for nominating me. Louise writes about life in Seattle and beyond.  Check out her blog.  And nominees, you’re not obligated to carry this through, but I hope you accept with a post of your own.
