I enjoy putting my own take on the photo theme & not taking the prompt in the immediate literal sense. This photo is about scale but in the realm of comparisons of near and far. As I walked the Camino de Santiago with a friend in 2013, we came upon these signs sometime after Pamplona. We were most concerned with Santiago, 220 km away but still way closer than Jerusalem at 5000 km!
One of the most satisfying pastimes for me as an artist is combining cast off items and putting them together into something beautiful…….
They are the nonconformists of the plant world. You will find these epiphytes growing in the top of trees and bushes in tropical/subtropical climates such as the SE USA, Mexico, Central & South America & SE Asia. They shun growing in soil, preferring a good view from above. Nutrients are absorbed from water & air through special structures on their leaves called trichomes. I love their quirky shapes & personalities to the point I made a business of selling them and unusual holders on Etsy
They make great “housepets”
How convenient….I actually work in collage as an art form- most in combination with monotype. Here is a collage of some of my collages.
Every spring these tulip fields at the Wooden shoe Tulip Farm explode with color, a welcome end to a dreary winter. I am lucky I don’t have to wander far in Oregon to experience such beauty.
